Nurse Practitioner - Health Services FT Days

Description Serves as primary Nurse Practitioner for employee Occupational Health and Workers' Compensation clinical management.
Directly responsible for occupational health medical care for injured employees at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
Provides case management for all work related injuries.
Assists in managing the Workers' Compensation Program in conjunction with the Director of Employee Health Services and the Vice President of Legal Affairs.
Maintains federal and state record keeping requirements with respect to Occupational Health.
Core Competencies Provides quality medical care per protocol.
Acts as intake for work related injuries.
Provides Workers' Compensation Claim form (DWC Form 1) when appropriate.
Refers to appropriate medical provider when necessary.
Provides ongoing case management for work related injuries.
Monitors cases in which physician follow-up is required to ensure that necessary consultation and treatment occur.
Evaluates medical care to ensure ACOEM guidelines are followed when appropriate.
Contacts employees for follow up of exposures to potentially infectious agents/ disease and request diagnostic tests per protocol.
Researches and recommends reasonable accommodations in the work environment for employees with work related disabilities.
Places employee in temporary Transitional Work Program, if possible, when injured worker are unable to return to their usual and customary jobs.
Manages the Transitional Work Program and monitors employees in the program.
Participates in Interactive Process with Human Resources to recommend reasonable accommodations in the working environment for employees with temporary or permanent disabilities that require transitional, modified, or alternate work.
Recognizes, assesses, and treats common physical and psychological health care issues of the adult population that may interfere with the employee's ability to do the essential physical requirements of their job.
Provides immunizations to employee as required by DHS & CDC for employee to safely work in the health care environment.
Provides brief personal health consultation and examination when requested and refers employees to EAP, community resources or medical provider as indicated.
Files Employer's First Report with TPA.
Acts as liaison with Workers' Compensation Third Party Administrator (TPA) in the management of active cases.
Advises Director, Safety Officer and Hospital Administration of current and prospective occupational health hazards and recommends plan of action to alleviate problem.
Coordinates with Hospital Safety Officer/Accident Prevention Specialist to assists with accident investigations as requested, conducts occupational health and safety training programs for employees as needed.
Supports Workers' Compensation Program goals by participating in planning, development, and implementation of programs as requested by Director of Employee Health Services.
Reports statistics to the EOC Committee and Federal/ State agencies as requested.
Serves as guest member of the hospital EOC Committee, Patient Safety/ Patient Care Performance Improvement Committee, Disaster Committee, Ad Hoc member of Infection Prevention Committee and other committees as may be necessary or as requested.
Supervises the maintenance and confidentiality of employees' work related health records and information.
Maintains current knowledge of new developments in the field of Occupational health and Workers' Compensation.
