44 an hour The Utilization Management Assistant (UMA) works collaboratively with the Case Managers, Social Workers and Director of Case Management to assist with transitions along the continuum of care and discharge planning.
The UMA assists with department projects, reports, data collection and record keeping.
The UMA helps maintain community provider, vendor, and health plan relationships.
Core Competencies Assists Director and Manager in coordinating project meetings as needed.
Assists Director in putting together agenda, informational packets to be distributed at meeting and minutes.
Assists Director, Managers and Case Managers and Social Service staff with other projects as needed.
Accepts and screens telephone calls on the main office line and routes calls appropriately.
Acts as a resource for patients and family/visitors Addresses administrative needs in a respectful and caring manner Adheres to all Medical Center policies, procedures and guidelines.
Analyzes problems and situations, generates solutions, and acts decisively to implement solutions.
Answers inquiries concerning activities and operations of department.
Assists in the preparation of annual packets, monthly schedules, and reports.
Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Assists in updating and revising office specific procedures (excluding computer related procedures) Classifies, sorts, and files correspondence, records, and other documents.
Completes reports, letters, memos and other documents in an accurate and easy to read format within agreed upon time frames.
Coordinates department staff meetings.
Coordinates, prepares, and distribute monthly Emergency Department On Call Schedule.
Creates dashboards and spreadsheets with formulas in Excel.
Creates reports, letters, memos, documents, graphs in an accurate, attractive, easy to read format within the agreed upon time frame requested utilizing appropriate software programs, e.

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Visio.
Develops and manages mailing lists and telephone lists.
Evaluates and makes positive suggestions for change in the environment.
Follows up and assists families who are having difficulty accessing resources to which they were referred.
Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and flexibility Maintains a list of service companies and vendors, and other pertinent information for accuracy of computer records.
Maintains department records.
Monitors incoming referrals via the fax machine.
Orders supplies when requested.
Participates in department and current project meetings.
Picks up and addresses voice-mail messages.
Prepares orientation packets for new hire employees.
Reports errors, knowing that Torrance Memorial engages in a positive environment for the correction of errors (Non-punitive).
Requests insurance authorization for treatment, procedures and/or consultations.
Schedules vendor in-service education.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
