50 an hour 6 hours ago 6 hours ago 6 hours ago Under the supervision of the Manager, Nursing Staff Services, is responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and maintaining nursing personnel schedules to provide staffing resources as necessary based on unit staffing guidelines and patient care needs.
Makes a daily adjustment in staffing for the Division of Nursing to adapt to census, acuity, and staff availability.
Core Competencies Ensures all staffing updates, floats, absences etc.
are entered into the staffing and scheduling system and accurately reflect the staffing decisions.
Notifies episodic departments immediately via phone call of an unscheduled absence in addition to updating the staffing and scheduling system.
(Perioperative Services, Emergency Services and Labor and Delivery) Notifies and updates Administrative Nursing Supervisor/Clinical Manager of excessive unscheduled absences negatively impacting ability to provide adequate staffing.
Records unscheduled absences (Sick, Kincare, Absent, Tardy) according to departmental standard operating procedure.
Ensuring documentation is reflects the employee, position, unit and shift accurately and timely.
Adjusts staffing and enters schedules in hospital time keeping application as necessary in units that function 24/7.
With unit manager input while maintaining compliance with staffing policy and procedure and budget guidelines.
Collaborates with vendor service provider using the vendor management system to relay staffing needs, confirm and/or cancel shift assignment of contract staff.
Ensures all confirmed staff have met compliance standards before arrival to the nursing unit.
Utilizes Lead RN staffing needs, patient classification staffing distribution plan, admission, discharge and transfer data from the patient flow system and input from Administrative nursing supervisor to determine best staffing target for each upcoming 4 hour coverage periods.
Communicates with Administrative Nursing Supervisor, Clinical manager/director and/or Lead RN regarding staffing targets, plan and variances.
Notifies Administrative Nursing Supervisor, Lead RN and/or Clinical Manager/Director when staffing targets are not met and collaborate with most appropriate to determine the best staffing plan for the Nursing Division.
Ensures the staffing updates are in the staffing and scheduling system and the daily staffing worksheet to ensure archiving and review are reflected accordingly.
Notifies Unit Leads of upcoming staffing plan within 1 hour (60 minutes) prior to change of shift.
Reviews staffing worksheet for upcoming shift at the beginning of shift.
Reviews staffing target, plan and variance with existing Administrative Supervisor to determine necessary adjustment.
Provide legible copy of staffing daily worksheet to oncoming Administrative Nursing Supervisor prior to shift report.
Updates the other copy of the roster, eg lines through terminated employees, pencils in phone number changes and LOA information, etc Replaces the sheets in the employee call book in the Nursing Office with this updated roster.
Reviews posted licensure renewal and certification list memos on a daily basis to ensure that staff with expired credentials are not allowed to work.
Prepares Division of Nursing employee paychecks for distribution, eg alphabetizes by unit, attaches any individualized attachments (eg insurance cards).
Distributes paychecks after checking identification and having employee/designee sign the log.
Serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff and ancillary staff.
Ensures that out-of-cluster floating during the shift has been appropriately authorized.
Adjusts staffing levels as needed in order to ensure that a sufficient quantity and appropriate mix of qualified staff are available to meet predefined patient care needs or exceptional patient care needs.
Ensures that sitter utilization during the shift has been appropriately authorized.
Utilizes Excel and Word programs.
Prints upcoming staffing daily roster for the Nursing Division and reviews for adequate resources.
Identifies and documents department census, number of staff by profile/job class and updates unscheduled absences for easy recognition.
Department Specific Competencies Supports decedent affairs by assisting with simple cases.
Coordinating removal for decedents with confirmed final arrangements.
Provide appropriate information to mortuary, families or One Legacy.
Completing Public Administrative referrals independently.
Assists in Disaster Drills, as needed, and follows Disaster protocols in the event of an emergency.
Monitors Taxi Voucher Distribution Log for accuracy and compliance and ensures availability of vouchers in department Education Degree Program High School Diploma/GED or Higher Education General Studies Experience Number of Years Experience Type of Experience 2 Secretarial experience and knowledge of general office practices and equipment Compensation Range $25.
