Orthodontic Assistant We are looking for an experienced, friendly, and professional Orthodontic Assistant to join our growing team! Job Summary of the Orthodontic Assistant:
The Orthodontic Assistant will work closely with our 2 orthodontists to support the diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of patients undergoing orthodontic procedures.
The responsibilitiesof the Orthodontic Assistant include performing clinical and technical procedures under the super vision of the orthodontist as well as taking patient X-rays, intraoral scans, and photographs.
The Orthodontic Assistant prepares the operatory and equipment, gets the patient ready, maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of patients, and educates patients on proper oral hygiene practices.
OA/RDA required Hours of Operation of the Orthodontic Assistant:
Monday-Thursday 7:
45am-5:
15pm, one half day Friday per month (on average) 7:
45am-12:
15pm Essential Duties of the Orthodontic Assistant:
Removes and places arch wires and ligature ties, prepares teeth for placement of brackets, seats adjusted retainers and Invisalign checks, check for loose orthodontic bands, places Invisalign attachments, removes cement excess from supragingival surfaces of teeth, performs cementation and removal of orthodontic bands and expanders, places and removes elastic orthodontic separators, completes orthodontic records including x-rays, photographs, and intraoral scans.
Records treatment information on the electronic patient's chart, including treatment rendered, the type of treatment planned and the amount of chair time needed for next appointment.
Provides customer service support to patients by escorting them to and from the treatment room and prepping them for care by the doctor.
Prepares all treatment areas including, but not limited to, set-up, decontamination, sterilization of all instruments, cleaning and restocking.
Maintains cleanliness of the lab and sterilizing area.
Changes all chemical solutions (i.
e.
, disinfectant soaks and sprays, etc.
) Monitors incoming and outgoing lab cases.
Assists in ordering supplies.

Knowledge / Skills of the Orthodontic Assistant:
