Research Engineer

RESEARCH ENGINEER
A fast-growing Southern California high tech company specializing in advanced military, homeland security, and energy solutions is seeking a Research Engineer for its Photonic Systems Division, which specializes in the development and production of advanced sensor solutions for ground and airborne applications. Our current project portfolio includes a wide range of ever-changing technologies, including novel optical metrology to aid in the production of stealth aircraft, autonomous mass spectrometry systems for atmospheric monitoring, and future millimeter-wave radar systems to aid in aircraft launch/recovery operations aboard aircraft carriers. This position is for a skillful experimentalist who will be responsible for the development and fabrication of new, innovative devices and systems to meet the unique needs of defense and commercial applications. The successful candidate will have a strong multidisciplinary background and a can-do attitude to provide hands-on support to a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to continually advance R&D toward viable products.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Responsibilities
Identify and implement simple yet innovative ways to solve complex technical problems in the areas of LIDAR, EO/IR, and RF hardware engineering.
Perform hands-on laboratory work to rapidly design and build prototypes to assess and demonstrate technical feasibility
Support technical and programmatic progress on multiple projects, including writing technical report updates and presentations in support of development for government customers
Education
Master's Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical field is required. PhD is preferred.
Experience
2
years of hands-on experience in development of advanced technologies and instrumentation, with thorough fundamental understanding of physical processes and materials
Experience with transition of R&D to production is a strong plus
Skills
Creativity, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills are essential
Proficiency in software modeling, and simulation tools, such as COMSOL, MATLAB, etc., is a strong plus
Shall be comfortable working in a very dynamic research and development setting with a number of PhD level engineers and scientists developing novel, impactful technology solutions

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
